It's really cool, the new things you discover about yourself after having the courage to face a fear!
Here in SoCal, the summer weather doesn't just get hot, it gets really hot. I've always been a bit shy about showing my legs, but last summer, I realized my self-conscious tendencies just weren't serving me!
I bought my first pair of shorts, and it was damn liberating. So what if my skin wasn't pristine -- years of eczema, goose-skin, and scarring was just a part of me, and I had to accept that.
For the first time, my legs were kissed by rays of sunshine, and it was wonderful.
My grandmother always likened my legs to hers. She would comment on how shapely my legs were, and then reminisce about her days out dancing. In embarrassment, I'd shrug it off, "OK, grandma..."
It's incredible to think that I've spent so many years not daring to expose my legs. Just, wow. I made a decision to face a fear, and it benefited me in such a positive way.
I still have goose-skin, I still get patches of dry eczema, and my legs still haven't picked up a tan, but that's okay! The summer heat is rising, and so is my confidence. I love my legs!

And shoutout to my grams (grandma!) for blessing me with these gams...
The rose kimono I originally purchased for my grandma, as a gift. She loved it.
Now I wear it in her memory!
Long Beach, your weather is so worth it.
