HALLOWEEN. There's so much to love: black cats, ravens, spiders, and bats (all are really incredible creatures!), ghosts and the afterlife (so mysterious!), vampires, werewolves, and zombies (medical oddities, yes?), skulls and dancing skeletons (anatomical fun!), and PLANTS!
The most popular Halloween plant is probably the Jack-O-Lantern (also known as the "pumpkin") -- but there are so many more! I consider all root vegetables to epitomise the holiday spirit, they grow underground, they're literally plants of the under world. So I gather every obscure edible root I can find (including rhizomes and underground stems) and throw them into my cauldron for some kitchen witch fun!
Most fun of all are the stories about horrific plants! I especially love when scary plants become cinematic marvels. Have you all began watching season 2 of Stranger Things? No spoilers here, but the looks of those pumpkin patches is really horticulturally perplexing!
